Prayers have been outlawed at markets in Anambra State, according to Punchng.com.
The paper said it was banned on Wednesday by the State Amalgamated Traders Association.

The association’s President-general, Ikechukwu Ekwegbalu, told market union leaders of the ban in Onitsha, citing politicians turning prayer sessions to rallies, and some persons extorting innocent traders under the guise of praying as reasons for the step.
“This move became necessary because we have discovered that some overzealous ones abuse this practice by extorting market men and women regularly of their hard-earned resources.
“Some have turned the prayers into political jamborees and this is not healthy for the system,” the paper quoted him as saying.
