Ex-Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, has died at the age of 70 from coronavirus complication.
Earlier, Ajimobi was rumoured to have died about six days ago but it turned out false.
The two-time immediate past Oyo governor had been battling COVID-19 and hospitalised at First Cardiology Consultants Hospital, Lagos.
He was also said to have an underlying health problem in the shape of diabetes.
In the midst of his bad health, Ajimobi was named by the All Progressives Congress’ National Working Committee, NWC, as the acting National Chairman of the party to the protest of Mr. Victor Giadom, who laid claim to the office on the back of an exparte injunction in his favour.
The culmination was the dissolution of the party’s NWC by its National Executive Council, NEC, who went on to put in place a caretaker committee headed by Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni to pilot its affair for six months.
