Two lecturers of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, Dr Babawale Taiwo of the Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education, and Dr Israel Abiala of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, have reportedly stabbed a post graduate of the university, Jimi Fatunbi, during a fight in the school car park.

In his account of the incident, which happened around midnight on Wednesday, Fatunbi, a Masters degree student in the Department of English, said he was driving his car out of the park when Dr. Taiwo and Dr. Israel, who were driving in a car accused him of obstructing them, lost their temper and started yelling at him, adding that Dr. Taiwo alighted from their car and was banging his car’s body.
According to Fatunbi, he alighted from his car to complain but to his surprise when he was returning to his car to drive off, the lecturers ran after him, slapped him repeatedly and one of them stabbed him with an object in the face.
“Dr Taiwo started banging on my car. I felt he wanted to damage my car and I stopped. I came down again to ask him what was actually wrong.
“I felt that if you accuse me of obstructing you and I’m moving away, you don’t need to attack me any longer.
“He said I had committed an offence and he needed to deal with me, being a lecturer. So, before I knew it, his colleague, Dr Abiala came down from the same car and started harrassing me. In the process, one of them stabbed me in the face,” he told EduCeleb, an education website.
