Fayemi confirms rumoured crisis in South West APC

Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has confirmed rumour that leaders of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Southwest are at war.

Fayemi dropped crisis hint after a meeting of prominent Southwest chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, held in Ibadan on Thursday.

The meeting which was called to broker peace between the warring factions with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu leading a group and the other constituted by Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, all serving ministers from Southwest except Information Minister Alhaji Lai Muhammed, who despite hailing from Kwara State (North Central) is identified with politics from the region ended in a deadlock.

Report says the dignitaries in attendance include, Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, his Lagos, Osun, and Ogun counterparts, Chief Bisi Akande, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Osoba, Engr Segun Oni, Senator Olusola Adeyeye, Hon. Femi Gbagabiamila, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and Professor Isaac Adewole, Minister of Health.

After coming out of the meeting into the waiting hands of journalists, the APC chieftains tried to give the impression that there were no issues among them.

“The cat was, however, let out of the bag when Fayemi burst into a song, still holding the hand of Amosun.

“He sang one of King Sunny Ade’s tunes…Ko le se kija ma wa o, bi ija ba de o, se lo ye ka pari e, ko le se ki ija ma wa o..meaning misunderstanding is unavoidable, when it occurs, we ought to settle it.

“Amosun, however, cautioned Fayemi to stop the song,” Vanguard reported.
