The Lagos State government has received plaudit from the federal government over its successful prosecution of actress, Funke Akindele and her spouse, AbdulRasheed Bello.

The celebrity couple were undone by a house party they held to mark Bello’s birthday at their Amen Estate residence which was attended by people more than twenty including lewd singer, Naira Marley, a violation of government’s order on gathering, one of the raft of measures to combat coronavirus pandemic.
Consequently, they were sentenced to 14-day community service and N100,000 each fine.
In an implicit reference to the case, the Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, lauded Lagos State government for ensuring justice was served to the parties involved.
He said: “Reports have been received of the general level of satisfactory compliance in Lagos with the lockdown order and we have similarly received reports of violations.
“In this case, I commend the governor of Lagos State with his institutions for the instant action of the government by prosecuting and convicting notable violators, which shows that nobody is above the law.”
