Chief Tobias Chukwuemeka Okwuru, who Buhari nominated into the board of the Federal Character Commission, FCC passed on before his nomination.
The death of Okwuru who hailed from Ebonyi occurred on February 27, 2020.
But the President in a letter dated March 18, 2020 to the Senate President requested the deceased’s confirmation as members of the FCC board alongside 37 others.
Late Okwuru was a federal lawmaker in the 7th National Assembly elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP but later defected to the All Progressives Congress after his re-election bid under the umbrella of the Labour Party hit the brick-wall.
However, the President drew backlash over the error with former Commissioner for Information in Ebonyi, Dr Chike Onwe, posting on his Facebook on Tuesday:. “PMB, please, in God’s name, leave us alone to mourn our dead. Keep your belated appointment!,”
