President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe mistakenly read a speech he made just last month for a full 25-minutes at the opening of the country’s parliament on Tuesday.
The 91-year-old president failed to notice his mistake as he repeated a speech he had made in August 25 during a state of the nation address on August 25 in which he pinned his hopes on China to help revive Zimbabwe’s struggling economy.
Mugabe’s spokesperson, George Charamba has admitted the president read out the wrong speech.
“The mix-up happened in his secretarial office, therefore, the delivery in parliament should beset aside,” the spokesman said.
Mugabe has been Zimbabwe’s president since 1987.
