Zamfara LG chairman steals N23m belonging to armed bandits’ victims

The Executive Chairman of Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Alhaji Sani Galadi, has been relieved of his position temporarily for diverting N23m raised for victims of armed bandits in the community.

Galadi’s suspension was handed down to him by the State House of Assembly.

A statement the chairman of the House media and publicity committee, Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura, released on Saturday in Gusau, said the disgraced council boss was suspended for three months.

It reads in part: “The decision followed an interim report submitted by the Chairman House Committee on Public Petitions, Yusuf Kanoma (PDP, Maru North) alleging that Galadi diverted N23 million meant to support victims of armed banditry attacks.

“After careful study and subsequent deliberations of the report on the floor of the House, the lawmakers unanimously agreed to suspend the council chairman for three months, pending the completion of the assembly’s investigation on the matter.”
