The woman, name unknown as at press time, resides in Yola but was impersonating Gabon, a resident of Kano. The impostor opened a Facebook account with the name and picture of the Kannywood actress.

Posing as Gabon, she allegedly flirted with men online and demanded money from them.

It later came to the notice of the Hausa actress that someone was posing as her on Facebook and she reached out to the impostor.

“I begged her on facebook to please stop dragging my name in the mud but she told me I was the one impersonating her, that she was the real Hadiza Gabon,” the actress told reporters at Wuro Hausa Police Division in Yola where the suspect is detained.

The impersonator’s arrest followed Hadiza Gabon’s complaint to the Adamawa State Police Command about the activities of the impostor.
