Wike caught threatening to kill INEC officers in leaked audio

Rivers State governor Neysom Wike has been caught bribing officers of the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, to do his biddings and threatening to kill two of them who were uncooperative.

A phone conversation between Gov. Wike and some INEC officers believed to have taken place  before the election was postponed in the eleventh hours by the electoral body was secretly recorded.

In the leaked audio circulating on social media, the governor could be heard discussing with the INEC staff about the election and asking one believed to be man going by his voice if his colleagues were satisfied with the financial inducement he gave in a thinly veiled conversation.

At a point in their conversation, Wike is heard saying two officers of the electoral body who were not cooperating with him would not leave Port Harcourt alive.

Meanwhile the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole said some INEC Resident Electoral Commissioners have compromised themselves and underground are working for the Peoples Democratic Party.

“I am much more determined that our message to the Nigerian people, we must revive it, we must insist these elections are conducted properly, some INEC RECs have been compromised,” Oshiomhole said at APC National Caucus meeting in Abuja on Monday.
