Investigation has lifted the lid on the bizarre picture and video of a desperate staff of Zenith Bank kneeling down and begging Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, for forgiveness over the bank’s denial that it funded the governor’s election.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had alleged that Fayose received N1.2bn from the embattled ex-National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki(retd) from the looted $15bn arms fund to prosecute his election in 2014.
But Fayose in a swift reaction said his election was funded by donations from friends, associates, and Zenith Bank.
Subsequently the bank denied the governor’s claim.
Another twist was added to the unfolding drama when a team from the bank led by an Executive Director, Sola Oladipo, and comprised of two zonal directors, and the Ado-Ekiti branch manager paid Gov. Fayose a visit.
Gov. Fayose was said to be a high net worth customer of the bank with deposit in his bank account running into billions, and the bank’s officials’ visit, was to deliberate and calm an aggrieved customer’s
A business visit, it however turned awry when newsmen, who had prior knowledge of the bank’s official’s visit, courtesy of the governor’s aide, were ushered into the meeting to interview the guests on the crisis between the bank and the governor.
Pictures and videos of the visit have gone viral. In it, a staff of Zenith Bank is seen kneeling down and begging Gov. Fayose just as stories that Zenith Bank begged Fayose were notoriously published online.
According to sources privy to the plot to prove that Zenith Bank funded Gov. Fayose’s election, the bank’s staff begging Gov. Fayose in the videos and pictures is one Bunmi Falana popularly known as Bumshaka.
An acolyte of Gov. Fayose, Bumshaka, was one of his aides in the early days of his first time as Ekiti State governor before Fayose influenced his appointment in the bank, and ever since he has been his account officer.
It was reliably gathered that after Fayose’s removal as Ekiti State governor in 2006, Bumshaka was posted by the bank to Ogun State where he was until 2014 when he was returned to Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, to head a branch of the bank.

The sources, who cannot be named, told OrijoReporter that the man standing in the pictures and videos is Goke Olatunji, an aide of the governor, who is facing trial alongside his principal over alleged N736m fraud in the Ekiti State Integrated Poultry Project , Fayose initiated when he first served as governor.
“Throughout the deliberation, no staff of the bank knelt down before Fayose except Bumshaka, and it was a premeditated action,” sources revealed.
