Sugar until his killing was the lawmaker representing Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the lower chamber, a seat he contested for on the platform of the All Progressive Congress.
Later on, he decamped to Action Democratic Party to contest for Senate but lost to a candidate of the ruling party at the February 23 election.
His death in the hands of suspected political thugs occurred on March 9 when his convoy was ambushed and his attackers shot him dead.
Akinmoyede has been arrested in connection with Sugar’s gruesome murder, according to The Nation.
“I am not aware that he has been taken to Abuja. I am only aware that he is under investigations but I am not aware whether he has been taken to Abuja or not,” the paper quoted the Speaker of the state assembly as saying.
