A woman has been arrested on the suspicion of killing her estranged husband, Mr. Vitalis Okoro, in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
The pair who have three children together were said to have a rocky marriage that started four years ago and culminated in them living apart.
In the wee hours of Wednesday, 62-year-old Okoro was killed by suspected assassins in his house located at Anaku Street, in the Ikot Effanga Mkpa area of Calabar.
Reports say Okoro dealt in cement but his business had collapsed before he was murdered in cold blood after his son who was around when the killers broke into the house was chased away by the assailants.
It was said that the late businessman’s killers dumped his remains in his Toyota Sequoia, and were driving it away when the car fuel got finished prompting them to park the vehicle with the corpse inside.
The deceased’s estranged wife was said to be in police custody at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department where she is facing interrogation.
