Uzodinma orders banks to freeze Imo accounts   


The governor-elect of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has directed all financial institutions where funds belonging to the state are, to dishonour any draft in the meantime.

Uzodinma’s order is come on the heels of Tuesday’s Supreme Court judgement in favour of the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship which nullified the declaration of Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party by the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC.

In a letter Cosmos Iwu, director-general of Senator Hope Uzodinma campaign organization released, at the instance of the governor-elect, Uzodinma ordered banks to “post no debit” on all the accounts of the state domiciled in their banks till further directive.

The letter entitled, “Order of post no debit on all accounts of Imo state government effective 14, January 2020”, read in part: “Following the Supreme Court judgment of 14, January 2020, I am directed by his excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, to take this as your authority/instruction to place a post no debit order on all accounts of the Imo state government maintained in your various institutions.”
