Uniport lecturer kidnapped 5 days to wedding anniversary

Unknown gunmen on Monday night kidnapped Dr. Reginald Ohiri, a lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry at University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.


Dr. Ohiri, was kidnapped from his resident in Aluu community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State at around 11.00pm, 5 days to his wedding anniversary, on August 6.

Reports said his abductors have initiated contact with his family and demanded N2m ransom.

Confirming the don’s kidnap, Uniport PRO, Dr. William Wodi said it has been reported to the police, and efforts are ongoing to rescue Dr. Ohiri from the kidnappers’ den.

kidnap-for-ransom (KFR) cases in Uniport have been on the rise in recent times, and in most of the cases recorded the institution’s lecturers are the victims.
