Two men fight over ownership of teenage child in Ibadan
Two men, Olumide Ayoade and Joshua Adejumo, are laying claim to being the father of a teenage girl in Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The ownership battle before the court was instituted by Adejumo, who is asking the court to rule that the child belonged to him and not Ayoade.
“After a long search, I later found out that she took the baby to Adejumo’s home town at Ijebu-Jesha in Osun State.
“Her parents, who had known me all along, told me that they had no hand in whatever Omolara was doing.
“All efforts geared toward recovering the baby from her proved abortive because I couldn’t locate her due to my job in Abuja,” the plaintiff told the court on Wednesday.
“When she was born i organised her naming ceremony, sent her to school and have been providing for her needs. She bears my name,” Adejumo, however, said in defence.
Speaking, the mother of the girl, Omolara stated that Adejumo is the father of her daughter, adding that she had affairs with Ayoade in the past.
In a separate testimony before the court, Omolora’s father, said his daughter was promiscuous.
Subsequently, the President of the court Mr. Henric Agbaje, fixed March 31 for judgment.
