A top pastor and founder of a Pentecostal church in Lagos has been caught in a web of lies after it came to the open that he was staging miracles, testimonies and deliverances in his church.
Prophet I.K Chukwuma(pictured), the founder of The Lord’s Gracious Deliverance a.k.a Jesus Camp, a renowned church at Idimu in Alimosho Local Government Area was nabbed in June by the police at Area M following a tip-off by insiders.
Prophet Chukwuma was arrested alongside a female church member simply identified as Blessing and a woman(a police officer’s wife) who feigned serious ill-health. Their arrest came after a disgruntled member of the church located at Ifelodun Street, Orisumbare, spilled the beans about fake miracles, testimonies and deliverance taking place in the church.
Blessing was said to be in charge of recruiting people who would fake one problem or the other. And after being handed N15,000(fifteen thousand naira) for each recruit, she would give between four and five thousand naira to each. It was gathered that they would first rehearse at a hotel (name withheld) in Idimu before storming the church in a tricycle (Keke NAPEP) for the performance (below are fake testimonials on The Lord’s Gracious Deliverance in a handbill made by the church).
OrijoReporter gathered that on the day of their arrest, a woman whose husband is a police officer based in Ondo State faked serious illness. The woman who is Blessing’s neighbour in Igando, put on a drip to indicate she had been seriously sick.
However, Blessing and the police officer’s wife were arrested near the church premises after being kept under surveillance.
Prophet Chukwuma who was waiting for them for the staged miracle service was equally apprehended. His arrest turned into a drama when he asked a police officer to find him cannabis.
OrijoReporter further gathered that the purported man-of-God and his accomplice’s prosecution was stalled by the sudden death of Area M’s Divisional Police Office, D.P.O.
When our correspondent, Yinka Ogundimu contacted Prophet Chukwuma on the issue, he threatened to sue him, and the organisation he represents if the story is publish.
