Super Eagles fan slumps to death while watching Nig/SA match, another killed by car

A fan of Super Eagles simply identified as Joseph Oloruntoju, and another fan, have reportedly died following Super Eagles’ loss to Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Saturday.

Late Oloruntoju was said to be a retired soldier, and had left his residence at Ajipowo area of Akure for Owena Army Barracks to watch the match.

The deceased, who reportedly left the military as a sergeant, according to report slumped when South Africa’s Percy Tau netted the second goal for his country in the dying minutes.

Efforts to revive him were said to be futile as he was confirmed dead at hospital where he was rushed to.

Similarly, another fan who left the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo where he had gone to watch the match live was killed by motorist.

The late fan was reportedly agonising over Eagles’ loss when a car rammed into him around Aka Etinam Junction, just a few meters away from the stadium.

The man whose name was not known as at press time was said to have died on the spot.
