An Abuja-based socio-cultural organisation, Sunrise Initiative, has drummed up support while congratulating the PDP flag-bearer for Akwa Ibom state, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, for emerging as the candidate of the party for the 2015 elections in the state.
Addressing a press conference in their office on Sunday in Abuja, the chairman of the organisation and his secretary, Charles Odukana and James Utodio said, “Emmanuel’s emergence is designed by God and we are glad he made it after going through the processes.”
According to the group, “we also want to quickly thank the outgoing governor, Godswill Obot Akpabio who saw in our friend the sterling qualities of a man who can steer the ship of the state which has become the ultimate tourism destination in Nigeria.”
“Akpabio is the most successful governor in this republic with the airport, the township roads, the Nest of champions stadium, and several other projects on ground including the unique Christmas village.
“We call on the people of the state to invest massively and vote for Emmanuel. He is a man after our hearts. We have known him for decades. He is reliable as the northern star. He is so compassionate at heart.
“As an organisation, we are mobilising all within our resources to ensure that he wins the election. We recall two night vigils we held in Abuja to intercede for God to make him succeed at the primary. We shall return to God to do a thanksgiving for answering our first prayer.
“Sunrise Initiative is an amalgamation of professionals from all parts of Nigeria who are interested in the development of Akwa Ibom state. We have members across the federation.”
