It has been reported that a blogger and a student of the Nigeria Institute of Journalism, Damilare Famuyiwa, has been a victim of witch hunt following his publication on Koredo Bello, an HND student of the institution in which he published that the artiste was long absent from the school, and didn’t meet up with the school’s mandatory 70% attendance to sit for exam.

Famuyiwa had also reported that lecturers were threatening to resign if Korede was allowed to write the exam after he was alleged to have failed to meet up with the mandatory 70 percent attendance. OrijoReporter.com Damilare Famuyiwa

However, a management staff denied the report saying it was written in bad faith:
“I have heard nothing of the sort. Besides, why is Korede Bello being singled out…is it because he’s a celebrity? If the 70% attendance policy is followed to the letter, many students will be affected as they wouldn’t be allowed to write exams; that’s why we temper justice with mercy sometimes.

“It’s sad that Journalism in Nigeria has been reduced to mere sensationalism, and the promotion of the Pull Him Down (PHD) syndrome.

“None of our academic staff ever granted an interview stating that Korede wouldn’t be allowed to write exams, so I see the reports as mere figments of the imagination of the people who wrote them.

“Korede Bello completed his National Diploma (ND) programme here, and he became a star through this school. Don’t forget that he is a brand icon of this school, and as such, he has a special status in the school.”

Latest report said because of Famuyiwa’s negative publication on the Na God win crooner, he was deliberately scored low in all the exams he sat for in the school, and has two carry-overs.

The report said that Famuyiwa’s poor result shocked not few students on the day it was posted alongside that of others on March 11, adding that the victim whose matric number is HNMC/15/03, had earlier been promised a hard time by the management over his “reckless publication”.

It was also reported that Famuyiwa has concluded arrangement to seek redress by calling for his script.
