Staff absconds with Kwara Polytechnic’s N200m


A staff in the account department of the Kwara State polytechnic, Ilorin, simply identified as Mr. Adeyemi, has absconded with over N200m belonging to the institution.

ORIJO reliably gathered that Adeyemi, who interfaced with banks on behalf of his employer allegedly in cahoots with some of the bank staff defrauded the polytechnic of the said amount.

It was gathered that the suspect has fled the country and relocated to the United States while the whereabouts of his family was unknown.

According to source, the institution management reported the case to the police at the State Police Command who are investigating the matter.

Some banks staff suspected to have conspired with Adeyemi to perpetrate the act, were said to have been arrested and released on bail. They were also said to be on suspension in their workplace.

It was gathered that the fraud is taking a toll on the finances of the polytechnic, a situation that caused the institution to float the idea of school fees increment which sparked outrage.
