Picture of police who shot bus passenger in Lagos

The picture of Divisional Crime Officer of Sagamu Road Police Division, Ikorodu, SP Opawoye Adetunji, who provoked the ire of mob for shooting a bus passenger in Lagos on Sunday has surfaced online.

The incident happened at Alapere area of Ketu in Lagos State.

According to report, it started off with an altercation between SP Adetunji and a commercial bus driver at Iyana Ile-Iwe bus stop snowballed into violence when the police officer shot at the bus and a bullet hit a passenger whose identity was unknown as of press time.

This vile act of the trigger-happy cop, provoked the angers of mob who descended on him and beat him to a pulp. He was said to have passed out and rushed to a hospital where he was revived.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident.

In a statement on the incident, Oti said the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, had ordered that the officer be queried after coming round for misuse of his firearm.
