Sex for marks:  Three varsity lecturers sanctioned


The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State, has sanctioned five of its employees embroiled in various indecent behaviours.

Four of them lecturers whose names were not made known except for two simply identified as Prof. Adeyemi and Dr. Ajayi were found guilty of sundry offences including offering female students marks in return for sex, the university Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Shehu Zuru revealed this in Abuja on Thursday while speaking to journalists.

Zuru disclosed also that a senior assistant registrar, Mrs Ivy Okonkwo, was brought to book.  She was demoted and banned from holding any office in the university for half a decade.

Giving insights into Adeyemi and Ajayi’s offences, the Pro-chancellor said the former was found guilty of insubordination and so demoted from a professor to a reader.

In Ajayi’s case, he was involved in multiple crimes including sexual harassment, money for grade, insubordination and fundamental breach of terms of his employment.
