Okorocha’s name missing on INEC’s senators-elect list

Gov. Rochas Okorocha’s name is missing from senators-elect list published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday.

Okorocha, the All Progressive Congress canddate for Imo West Senatorial District was declared winner of the February 23 election in controversy circumstances with the Returning Officer, Prof. Innocent Ibeawuchi claiming he made the declaration under duress.

“I was compelled to announce the result which was inconclusive. I am a man of integrity and it is not true that the governor slapped me but I was held hostage by agents working for him. I was manhandled and I thank God I came back alive,” Ibeawuchi had said.

Meanwhile, INEC on Monday, said that Senators-elect and Members-elect of the House of Representatives are to receive their Certificates of Return on Thursday.

INEC made this known via its verified Twitter handle in a tweet which reads: “Presentation of certificates of return to members-elect of the National Assembly on Thursday 14th March 2019.Venue: Africa Hall, ICC, Abuja
Time: 10 am (Senators-elect)
2 pm (Members elect of the House of Representatives-elect).”
