A man working as a security man at Alaba International Market was nearly lynched by a mob at the weekend after he was caught stealing three siblings from their grandmother.

The suspect identified as Ihenacho had slipped away with three children (pictured with their grandmother), aged four, six and seven years who were playing outside their grandmother’s shop at Iyana Iba Road in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State. A stranger, it was said that Ihenacho’s bait was that he was going to buy them biscuits.

The suspected ritualist (pictured right) was far gone with his victims before someone who knew the children’s parents accosted him, and demanded to know the relationship he had with them, and where he was taken them to. However, his explanation did not add up, and the interaction attracts attention from passers-by.Suspected-Ritualist

It was gathered that it was the timely intervention of mobile policemen attached to CTU Base 2, Anti Terrorism, Ikeja, that saved the suspect from being killed by the mob.

Speaking to newsmen on how it all happened, the mother of the children, Mrs. Iyabo Lawal, said: “I was in the shop when the man passed the first time, I didn’t know he was monitoring my kids who were playing with my mother in her shop.

“I was busy attending to customers and didn’t notice when my children followed him. I thought they were still playing in my mother’s shop, not knowing that a stranger had taken them away.

“Some people, who saw my children with the man at the end of Iyana Iba road, questioned him on what he was doing with the children and he told them he was going to buy something for them.

“When he could not answer the neighbours satisfactorily, they raised alarm and people gathered and started beating him.

“At this time I had started looking for my children when someone alerted me that they had seen them with a man at the other side of road.”
