Minister of Information and Culture and leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kwara State, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the indigeneship of Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, as a Kwaran is in doubt.

Mohammed stated this on Thursday in Ilorin at a women sensitisation forum for the forthcoming elections, organised by the women wing of APC in the state.

The minister’s comment about Saraki’s indigeneship followed the Senate President’s vitriol on the state APC claiming the party was planning to annex the state to South-West.

Rebutting Saraki’s claim, Mohammed said, “They say some people want to take them to the South-West. These are absolute lies from those whose family ties to Kwara are questionable. I can speak for myself. I am a bona fide and proud Kwara citizen. My father and mother are from here. No question about that.

“Our governorship candidate is unquestionably a proud Kwaran from right here in Ilorin, and there are no questions about his origins. So who is the stranger here?”

Speaking in the same vein, the governorship candidate of the party, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq flayed Saraki over his comment during the party rally held across the state yesterday.

He said, “Their desperate attempt to incite the public against us has failed. Every student of history understands the role my father, A. G. F. Abdulrazaq (SAN), played in 1955 to convince the Willinks Commission on Minorities that Ilorin belonged to the Northern Region. Where was Saraki in those years? Where is his sense of history?”
