Nigeria’s representative in the ongoing 2017 CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United, has raised the alarm that over 100 balls given to the club by the Africa’s football governing body, CAF, are missing.
Hundred balls were given to each of the sixteen clubs that made it to the group phase of the Confederation Cup.

And Rivers United’s own was reportedly sent through a top officials of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, for onward transmission to the club but got missing in transit.
Report suggests that the balls, which were given to the top NFF official a day after the CAF Confederation group draws were held in Cairo, Egypt, on April 26, may have been diverted by the recipient.
“Every competition has its officially approved match balls. It applies to FIFA, UEFA, CAF and even domestic league organisers. Unfortunately, while our group opponents have taken delivery of their CAF approved match balls and have been training with them, we are yet to receive our own consignment not to talk of training with them. We don’t know what is happening that NFF are yet to deliver the balls to us so that we can train and play with them,” an official of the Rivers United, who pleaded anonymity said.
