Speaking at a seminar on “violence against children” in Abuja on Wednesday, Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie, opened up about being sexually abuse as a child, and how she became a mother while she was in primary school.

Rita, who is married to veteran actor, Pete Edochie’s brother, Tony, revealed the horrific one moment abuse she faced at the hands of her mother’s friend’s son.

Going down the memory lane, she said: “I was a victim of sexual abuse when I was in primary six. The boy used some diabolic means and sexually violated me. And when I could not see my period, I didn’t tell my mother, because she was very strict.

“It happened that the mother of the boy that violated me was my mother’s friend; the boy’s mother was surprise but the boy denied.

“My mother took me to hospital to abort the pregnancy with a planned of taking me to my grandmother’s place to stay for one week before returning home.

“I told her I may lose my life in the process, and because she loved me, she then aborted the planned abortion; I feel it was God that spoke through me.

“ I love sharing my experience because at the end of the day I succeeded; If I had not succeed, I would not have been able to be saying it.”
