Recession/Ondo primaries: Oodua groups warn Yoruba in APC govt
The Coalition of Oodua Self determination Groups, COSEG, has expressed disappointment in the incumbent All Progressives Party, APC government, and warned the Yoruba holding positions in the government to be wary of a subterranean plot by some of its leaders to use them to achieve some ethnic agenda and thus plunge Yorubaland into confusion.
COSEG sounded this note of warning, hinging its reasons on what it termed the “current drive by the party machineries to cause divisions among some APC political office holders from the South-West and the Leader of the party from the zone, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.”
Speaking through its National Chairman, Dayo Ogunlana, the group which expressed disappointment in the APC government, bemoans the current prostrate state of the national economy which it said is at variance with the promise given the people of Nigeria to secure their votes in the last elections.
Ogunlana described as fraudulent the present situation where the Nigerian currency is in an all time depressions while “joblessness, hopelessness, hunger, starvation and squalor become the lot of the entire citizenry.”
Speaking on the controversial Ondo State APC gubernatorial primaries, Ogunlana said it was a shame that a party which the entire nation looked unto as hope for their freedom has derailed so abysmally.
He noted that the current display of democratic naivety in Ondo State was a clear indication that APC is lacking in internal democracy which it clinged to, to wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last polls.
He bemoaned the action of some APC ministers and other top office holders who are using their office to thwart the wish of the people of Ondo State, just as he warned that those surrendering themselves for such undemocratic acts should be prepared for their political nemesis in no distant time.
“If APC is sick, Nigeria is sick. So, the recent development in APC is a shame and a scheme to further frustrate, derail and demoralise the Yoruba in the Nigerian political space. We are aware that the game is to silent Asiwaju who is our political mirror in the government.
“We sound this note of warning to all the Yoruba in the government that they should know that they are only being used as political pawns to achieve a dastardly ethnic agenda. We assure them that they will not go far because the storm that will come after their actions will surely consume them. It is a game to disgrace the Yoruba and take them back to the sorry days of Goodluck Jonathan government,” he said.
Berating the economic policy of the APC government, Ogunlana said:” COSEG is not happy with the economic policies of this government. The change is not there for anyone to see. Nigerians are not happy with the lingering and seemingly uncontrollable recession. It is a clear indication that the managers of the economy are not performing,” he stressed.
