Controversy over a Biology teacher at Queen’s College, Lagos, Mr. Olaseni Oshifala, who was alleged to have sexually assaulted a Junior Secondary Two (JSS II) student continues.

The longtime Biology teacher was indicted by a panel set up by the Queen’s College Old Students Association after one Mrs. Chinyere Okoye, accused Mr. Oshifala of sexually assaulting her daughter. OrijoRepoter.com Olaseni Oshifala

A source who claimed to have known Mr. Olasheni said the embattled teacher lust after women to the point he was given several nicknames that suggest he is a womaniser.

“He is sometimes referred to as Ok*sheni, Ob*sheni, Ashewo boy and all sorts of
bad names back then.qc

“He is extremely intelligent, and students loved his biology classes. He is funny and an interesting teacher. But he is fond of drinking alcohol, which has a negative effect on his good nature.”

Meanwhile, speaking to newsmen at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, where he is being interrogated on Tuesday, Mr. Olasheni denied the sexual abuse allegation. Rather he said he is a victim of conspiracy.
“I am not too surprised. Having won Best Teacher Award seven different times within the 13 years I have worked at Queen’s College, I expect some elements of jealousy. In fact, in 2015, I went home with six out of the seven available prizes.

“The prizes were given by the school in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Education. Apart from these, I have worked with six different principals as their PA. And now, being the PA to the current principal who just arrived that can make some people jealous.

“The principal has said that I was recommended to her by numerous principals, and even a former Principal of King’s College, Lagos. It’s not I lobbied for the position. They call me.

“I was also the maintenance officer of the college. When the former principal was posted here, some people quickly went to her and persuaded her to make another person maintenance officer. I was removed.

“But soon things started missing. Government property was being taken away from the school. People were caught with raw food, building materials, cooking gas. I blew the whistle, by reporting it to the principal then, and the maintenance officer was removed, and I was again appointed as maintenance officer.”

SSS 111 students on Tuesday rallied behind Mr. Olasheni as they held a protest in support of him.

Their protest delayed the Biology paper for the Southwest Zonal Mock examination organised in preparation for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The girls, bore placards with inscriptions: “No Mother, No Child, No Case!”, “Haters at work, free Mr Seni”, “No Seni, no A’s”, “He didn’t do it,” “It is a set up”. They chanted: “No Seni, no biology”.
