The Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria has thrown their weight behind Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a Lagos State governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressive Congress, APC.
Members of the group also known as PSP Operators, made their position known on Tuesday at a press conference held at the association’s office at Mushin area.
Recall that PSP operators have been out of jobs in the state on account of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode led-administration, which barred residents from patronizing them and in their place, contracted their jobs to Visionscape, a foreign waste management firm.
Speaking at the press conference, the association’s Vice-Chairman, Mr. David Oriyomi declared the operators’ support for Sanwo-Olu’s candidacy saying members of the group were of the belief that if the aspirant emerged as the state governor they would have their business back and the current sanitation challenges of the state would be condemned to the past.
Oriyomi said in part, “The Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria, have decided to align ourselves with Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and pledge our full support to him in the forth- coming elections.
“This decision was taken in the best interest of the environment. We remain committed to servicing the great residents of the centre of excellence. It is time to clean up our city; we did it before, we are able and willing to actualise the Lagos of our dreams.”
