Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai on Sunday made a surprise visit to Latter Rain Assembly Church in Lagos.
El-Rufai’s visit came hot on the heels of the founder of the church. Pastor Tunde Bakare’s statement last Sunday that God had told him to take another shot at the presidency after his ill-fated attempt in 2011 during which he was the running mate of Muhammadu Buhari, the then Presidential candidate of defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC.
Bakare and Gov. El-Rufai were together in the party then.
“I have missed you… it is a good time to come,” the fiery pastor reportedly told his guest while they embraced.
Bakare in his sermon, touched on the intractable clashes between Fulani herdsmen and Benue farmers during which he laid into Department of State Service, accusing the secret service of turning a blind eye to the ongoing mass murder.
“We cannot keep quiet while hardened murderers and criminals fill our land with the crimes of blood. The DSS is deliberately silent, and i think secret service is guilty of that.
“The brutal murder going on in Benue state and other parts of Nigeria is very atrocious and wicked. There will be consequences of this dastard murder. Everyone involved in one way or the other, either overtly or covertly, shall pay for it.”
