Professor Tunde Adeniran claimed the convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, held on Saturday at the Eagle Square, Abuja, was rigged in favour of candidates in the ‘Unity List’ shared at the event’s venue by Gov. Nyesom Wike with the supports other PDP governors.

The party’s former Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus whose name appeared on the list emerged winner of the National Chairmanship race.

But Secondus’ victory was rejected by former Minister of Education, Prof. Adeniran, who equally vied for the same office but in protest stormed out of Eagle Square midway into the election.

Speaking on behalf of Adeniran Campaign Organisation,  its Director of Media and Publicity, Taiwo Akeju, said the former minister, rejected the entire electoral process.

The campaign organisation alleged that the election umpire worked for the interest of some candidates.

It said, “We reject the entire electoral process of December 9, 2017. The election was grossly compromised to achieve a predetermined end in line with the illegal ‘Unity List’ prepared by Governors Nyesom Wike and Ayodele Fayose and foisted on the entire delegates.

“Consequently, we submit that this election is a sham and its result is unacceptable. We reject it in its entirety.

“We consider this so-called election as a travesty of democracy and due process, which further entrenches the culture of impunity that has done a great damage to the party in the past.”
