Prof Yemi Osinbajo’s convoy blocked by Protesters

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was made to alight from his vehicle and address aggrieved youths of Gbagyi village in Abuja, who blocked his convoy on the busy Umaru Yar Adua expressway connecting the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The incident happened on Tuesday.

According to report, the youths were protesting against alleged seizing of a parcel of land in Tungan Maje belonging to the community by the Nigerian Army.

Osinbajo was going to the airport to board a flight with his convoy when he ran into the protesters who blocked a part of the Umaru Yar Adua Expressway and forced him to address them before he was let go.

In series of tweets, his media aide, Laolu Akande captured the incidents.

He wrote: “On his way to the airport just now, VP Osinbajo runs into a group of FCT residents protesting alleged land takeover bid by the military. He gets down, engages the people, proposing to meet with their leaders on the matter & intervene with a view to finding an amicable solution

“As a result of the VP’s interaction, the people ended the protest and opened the road for free passage. VP waited to ensure cars ahead of his convoy went on first and then he got back into his car and continued his trip to the airport enroute Ekiti. Where he has now arrived.”
