A wife of a popular politician in Ondo State, Adenike Ayewamide, was on Tuesday morning kidnapped at Surulere Street, Odode in Idanre Local Government Area.
Eyewitnesses said Mrs. Ayewamide was abducted by three armed men who invaded her residence at about 6.30 am.
The victim was reportedly driven away by the kidnappers in an unregistered, green coloured Toyota car to an unknown destination.
It was learnt that the hoodlums arrived Ayewamide’s house that morning and went straight to her apartment, bundled her out into a waiting vehicle.
When information about the incident got to the police divisional headquarters, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, was said to have mobilized his men and gave the abductors a chase but the kidnappers drove recklessly towards Ondo town and escaped with their victim.
It was further gathered that the hoodlums have contacted the family of the captive and have demanded for an undisclosed amount of money to get her released.
State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident, saying that the state Commissioner of Police, Patrick Dukumor, had ordered men of the Special Anti- Robbery Squad, SARS, to fish out the kidnappers.
