The police in Kastina have taken into custody three men including an 80-year-old herbalist, Hussaini Musa, for beheading one of their officers, Sergeant Unana Ishaya, and removed his eyes for ritual.
The suspects: Musa, Abubakar Sani, alias Abu Kwaya, 35; Abubakar Sani, alias Abu Dan Bauchi, 28, were paraded before newsmen by the state police commissioner, Mohammed Wakili, on Wednesday.
Wakili said the dastardly act was perpetrated in Jos, the Plateau State capital by the trio, saying it all started after Kwaya and Dan Bauchi approached the octogenarian herbalist for charm, which would enable them to carry out robbery without breaking in and afterwards escape arrest by disappearing, Vanguard reported.
In turn, Musa reportedly asked them to bring fresh human eyes.
Quoting the police chief, “So they surprised the officer, who was on a special duty at a joint, though not in uniform, and beheaded him. According to them, the policeman was drunk, though an investigation is in progress to ascertain what happened.
“Part of the requirements is to dry the eyes. So they were arrested while drying the eyes in their apartment.”
