PDP to sell membership cards

A part in the report on how to reposition the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, by the Ahmed Makarfi led-faction of the party recommended that  membership of the party should be put up for sale.

The report, which copies have been distributed to prominent members of the party including ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, according to Punch, advised the party to sell its membership cards and also restrict senior government positions and other perks to the highest bidder.

The paper said the report advised that membership of the party should be in six categories, namely;  Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Standard and Students in Tertiary Institutions.

It said each member in the Platinum category is to pay N500,000 annually or N50,000 monthly instalments while women in this category are to pay half the amount.

Men in the diamond category are expected to pay N250,000 annually while their female counterparts are to pay N200,000.

The paper said annually Gold card members will be expected to pay N200,000 (men) or N100,000 (women) while N200,000 (men) for Gold card members and N100,000 for their female counterparts.

It said holders of Silver cards in the party, according to the document, are expected to contribute N100,000 (men) or N50,000 (women) per annum to the party.

Members belonging to the various categories also have different benefits accruing to them.
