Owei covers the State Government House and on the day she was shot she was returning home from Shilloh 2017,  a popular church service organised by the Living Faith church aka Winners Chapel.

Eyewitness’ report of the incident indicated that her assailant had trailed her from the church, and when she was about entering her house located along Edepie area, where she is a tenant, he ambushed her at the gate around 10.30pm.

At gunpoint the lone attacker robbed Owei, who is said to be single and living alone of her valuables that included phones, cash and handbag.

Despite not proving stubborn, witness said the gunman still pulled the trigger and shot her twice in the back before fleeing the scene.

Minutes afterwards, her landlord and some persons rushed to the scene and saw her lying in pool of blood.

They reportedly took her to Tobis Hospital at Akenfa where she was not admitted. The hospital staff were said to have asked them for police report, and to deposit some money, which according to source was too much on the high side.

But she was admitted to one hospital at Igbogene where she was later rushed to, and was said to be receiving treatment as at press time.
