The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has revealed hitherto unknown complication leading up to her late wife, Clara’s death.
Late Clara with whom Oshiomhole has five children, died of cancer in 2010, while her widower was Edo State governor.
Five years after her death, the former labour leader remarried, walking down the aisle with Lara Forte, a Cape Verdean.
And a year to the a decade anniversary of the late Edo first lady, her widower has reopened the old wound accusing an unnamed doctor of causing Clara’s tragic death at aged 54.
He accused the doctor of misdiagnosing his late wife while speaking at the Founders Day and launching of endowment fund for the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) on Thursday.
The APC National Chairman who berated the poor medical standard in the country made reference to her late wife’s case.
He said, “You visit a hospital, one doctor is a gynaecologist, psychologist, paediatrician – the doctor treats everything. My wife was unfortunate to have been diagnosed as having something different while the cancer in her breast was growing.
“This generalised system of medical system is what we must review. It is not the task of government that things are not working. People elect government to make things work. That was why I decided to build what I called ‘Five Star’ hospital to replace the decayed Central Hospital. I do hope that one day that hospital will open and you will see the equipment.”
