Ooni to award N100k monthly to cleanest area in Ife
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has commenced the sponsorship of a cleaning competition among various areas in Ile Ife.
The Vice President Operations, Ife Tourism- Motherland Beckons, Mr. Ojuolape Olagbaju at the inauguration of the competition in Ile Ife, said it was aimed at ensuring a clean and hygienic environment, a factor in attracting tourists
“Ooni is calling on people of African descent to come to Ife and come and visit the cradle of mankind but these people will not come back if Ife is dirty.
“We went to where Ori Olokun was removed in 1904 and were shocked that the place has been turned to an illegal dump site. It is a shameful act and that is why Kabiyesi organised this cleaning and any area which is adjudged the cleanest in a month will receive N100, 000. If an area emerges first, three months consecutively that area will receive N500, 000,” Olagbaju said.
