Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, on Friday, announced eighteen-day public holiday for workers in the state government’s employ beginning from Monday 25th of December to January 8.
The announcement was made by Okorocha’s press secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo via a statement he released on behalf of the governor.
The essence of the long holiday, according to the statement, was to avail the workers the opportunity of spending ample times with their loved ones.
“Government has paid salary to workers in the state up to December to enable them also enjoy the Christmas. This is to wish them a blissful yuletide,” the spokesperson said.
Recall that the administration of Gov. Okorocha introduced a policy in the state that mandated civil servants to be absent at work twice a week and be on farms on those occasions.
