The flight, which had 394 passengers experienced difficulty in landing at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport as it overshot the runway causing it to hurriedly take off and was airborne for about twenty hovering around the skies of Abeokuta before returning to land successfully about twenty minutes later.
The near crash was due to poor visibility occasioned by heavy downpour and wind. And such situation usually calls for panic but according to Obasanjo in an interview with Premium Times, he handled it with calmness.
He said, “While it all happened, I was reading my papers.
“One man, who was next to me, said, ‘Oga you no worry?’ I said, ‘If I worry, what will I do? If you are on a plane and you have a situation like this, why should you worry?’ I left everything in the hands of God.”
