Prof. Richard Akindele of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, who was in the centre of a sex-for-mark scandal has been sacked by the institution.
Monica Osagie, a post graduate student in the Department of Management and Accounting of OAU had accused Akindele, her lecturer, of pestering her for sex. The accuser released an audio of the pair’s conversation on phone where Akindele demanded five rounds of sex in exchange for exam marks to back her claims.
The university found the professor guilty after it instituted a panel to investigate the allegation. His sacking was on Wednesday announced by the Vice-chancellor Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede.
Ogunbode said the Governing Council of the institution sacked the lecturer, “having found him guilty of all the charges against him.”
