NSCDC Officer who killed Senatorial Aspirant, Hon. Emenike, arrested

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps officer who is believed to have mistakenly killed 2019 senatorial candidate of the Action Alliance in Imo North, Ndubuisi Emenike, has been arrested.

The officer, whose identity was yet to be made public fired shot at Emenike, which caused him to bleed to death.

Contrary to earlier reports that it occurred at campaign ground and Hon. Emenike’s killer was attached to him, unimpeachable account said it happened during the victory party for Mirriam Onuoha of the All Progressives Congress in Okigwe North Federal constituency on Saturday.

Onuoha, was returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission after a by-election defeating the incumbent, Obinna Onwubuariri of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Imo State Command spokesman, Orlando Ikeokwu, who set the record straight, added that Emenike’s killer was never attached to him in reprobation of earlier report.

Ikeokwu told newsmen that the suspect, who is in custody of the police accompanied someone close to his victim to the function, adding that he is under investigation.
