Nigerian-born Doctor Hit By Lorry in US Flown to UK
The Nigerian-born medical doctor, Sebastian Kola-Bankole, who has been in critical condition after being hit by lorry in the US has been flown to the UK.
Dr Bankole, an NHS doctor, had flown out to Los Angeles from his base in the UK for his best friend, Alexander Ademokun’s wedding but was knocked down by a lorry as he crossed a road off the Sunset Strip in Las Vegas on February 15.
His friends and family led by Ademokun whom he(Dr.Bankole) was his best friend at his wedding(both pictured) turned to the public for help, and set up a GoFundMe page to help raise fund for Dr. Bankole’s treatment.
And under one week of the campaign, over £175,000 was raised for the Nigerian-born doctor who is believed to be a gay.
At the weekend, Dr. Bankole was conveyed from US to the UK by an air ambulance.
Announcing his arrival via GoFundMe page Ademokun said: “I’m so pleased to say that Seb is safely back in the UK. He landed this afternoon and has been transferred to intensive care for assessment.
“I can’t thank you all enough for your support to help bring Seb home, we genuinely wouldn’t be here without all of you.
“I also want to say a massive thank you to all Seb’s friends and colleagues in the NHS who have rallied round to make things happen here. We are so grateful and proud to have an NHS.”
