Eniola Mustafa Aminu who is of Nigerian heritage but British born has been sent to hospital for more mental health checks.
Aminu was arrested on June 16 at gunpoint outside the Houses of Parliament while allegedly armed with a knife
Aminu’s action came after a terror killer Khalid Masood stabbed hero cop PC Keith Palmer to death on March 22, 2017 almost on the same spot.
Though the police described the incident as ‘not terror related’ after the arrest of the 27-old, he was on Tuesday charged with possession of an offensive weapon and assault on a Constable in the execution of his duty at Westminster Magistrates Court.
Report said his arraignment was earlier scheduled for Monday, but his case was adjourned to
Tuesday pending a mental health assessment.
On Tuesday, it was further postponed after the assessment found he was not fit to plead and recommended further reports be carried out at a secure unit.
“The psychiatrists have told me that my client is not fit to plea today and they are recommending a remand for assessment,” Aminu’s representative was quoted as telling Chief magistrate Emma Arbuthnot.
Subsequently, the magistrate reportedly told the accused, “We have had a report on you and I’m going to remand you in custody for 28 days.
‘You will go to the health care wing in prison and you will be transferred to a hospital to be assessed there and treated I understand.”
