Controversy swirls around Keystone Bank as a customer, Ifeoma Okolie, alleged that N4,935,000 she kept in the custody of the bank disappeared mysteriously, a claim the bank has discountenanced.
Punch reported that Okolie, a bar owner, has been left seething and distraught to the point that she contemplated suicide following her alleged discovery that the said sum had been illegally withdrawn from her Keystone Bank account.
“I was shocked when I received the text message. When I saw what was left in my account, I felt like killing myself because that was my entire life savings. I hardly withdraw from the account because I save there for future use. That was why I never requested an ATM card for the account,” the aggrieved woman who was said to be unlettered was quoted as saying by the paper.
However, Keystone has denied any insinuated underhand dealings by it staff in the matter. Instead, the bank, according to Punch told the paper that Okolie subscribed to an ATM and was always accompanied by a person to the bank whenever she had any transaction.
The bank added that the aggrieved customer refused to produce her friend who mostly accompanied her to the bank on the pretext that the said person was deceased.
