Mum rents her month old baby to female beggars

A woman, Tawa Aregebsola, has been arrested in Lagos State for renting her one month-old baby to female beggars.


Aregbesola’s arrest was sequel to the arrest of two female beggars, Hadiza Nosiru and Salamotu Salitu(both pictured) at Oyingbo by the monitoring team of Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development after three babies were found in their possession.

Reports said preliminary investigation conducted by the agency revealed that the duo are not the biological mothers of the babies, and had rented them for street begging.

One of the babies’ mother, Aregbesola, has been arrested alongside Hadiza and Salamotu, and are all detained at the Rehabilitation and Training Centre at Majidun where they are facing interrogation.

Aregbesola was said to have entered a contract agreement with one of the suspects to rent her one month old baby to her between 5.00pm and 7.00pm, in exchange for N1,000(One Thousand Naira) daily.

Reports said charges will be pressed against the three suspects after the completion of investigation.
