A 22-year-old miscreant, Adebayo Hammed, who killed a footballer, Samuel Owawu in Agege, has been arraigned before an Ebutte Metta Magistrate Court.
Samuel(pictured) was the goalkeeper of amateur side, Ifako United Football Club. The 21-year-old was a member of the victorious Dairy Farm Senior Secondary School, Agege, that won the Principal Cup in 2014.
It was said that he was set to travel to Europe when he was stabbed to death by the accused on January 15.
Narrating how the deceased was stabbed to death in cold blood, the prosecutor, Inspector Godwin Agoi told the court that Samuel was popular in Agege, and was passing through Oyemekun Bus stop, when the accused and others at large accosted him, and demanded money from him.
Inspector Agoi said the inability of the deceased whom was invited to the Flying Eagles to meet their demand angered the suspects, and Hammed stabbed him with a broken bottle in the left ribs area.
Hammed confessed to stabbing the promising goalkeeper to death, and the Magistrate, Mrs. A. O. Ajibade ordered that he should be remanded in Ikoyi Prison, and adjourned the matter till April 23, 2016.
