A soldier with the Nigerian Army has been shot dead after going on rampage and shooting indiscriminately at Dodan Barrack in Obalende area of Lagos State.

The incident happened on Saturday morning, according to source, who lives in the same barrack.

It was gathered that the slain soldier whose identity was unknown as of press time, was battling with mental issue and had just returned from Northeast where he was at the battle zone of the war against the insurgency.

On return to the barrack after three years in the warfront, he was said to be receiving medical treatment for mental problem with his behaviour becoming a source of concern. On one occasion, unprovoked he threatened to go on a killing spree.

Source said somehow he was about making good his threat when he was stopped in his track.

“On Sunday morning, he snatched a gun from an officer and was shooting at a wall when another solder on guard gunned him down leading to his death,” OrijoReporter was told.
